New windows & doors for Looe homeowners
You may be surprised to learn that Looe was once one of Cornwall’s largest ports, exporting local tin, arsenic and granite. Over the course of history, Looe hosted thriving fishing and boatbuilding industries; providing some 20 ships for the Siege of Calais back in 1347. Rich in history, Looe’s beautiful beaches were once a notorious hotspot for smuggling too, especially Looe Island and the superb shingle beaches of Talland Bay nearby.
Due to financial strains and heavy storm damage, Looe’s fortunes sadly declined throughout the 1800s. However, the Victorian penchant for seaside holidays helped Looe evolve into the thriving tourist town we gladly see today. With a terrific array of hotels, pubs, restaurants, ice cream and Cornish pasty vendors to explore, the 15th century Old Guildhall Museum, South West coastal path and scenic Looe Valley Line shouldn’t be overlooked either.
