6 festive things to do in Plymouth this winter

Make the most of Britain’s ocean city this winter by enjoying all of the festive goings on. From a charity run to the ever popular Christmas market, there’s fun for all the family in Plymouth this Christmas. If you’re lucky you might even meet Santa!

Follow the second star to the right

Peter Pan will be flying into the Theatre Royal from 15th December to 13th January. Starring pantomime veteran Andy Ford and EastEnders star Steve McFadden, it promises to be a festive treat. Journey to Neverland and relive the stories of the Lost Boys and Captain Hook’s band of pirates. Following the boy who never grew up, there will be laughs for grown-ups as well as a little sprinkling of fairy dust.

Find the snowflakes

From the 26th November to 7th January, there will be snowflakes hidden all along the waterfront and around the city. Pick up a map from the Tourist Information Office or download it online. If you find 10 snowflakes, you could even win a prize including a PS4 or a family aquarium ticket.

Perfect festive shopping

If you’re on the lookout for some unique Christmas presents (or something to treat yourself with) a visit to the Christmas market is a must. Taking over the Piazza with over 60 decorated log-cabins, browse through plenty of handmade gifts and local produce. If you don’t want to buy, it’s still the perfect place for wintry evening. After you’ve finished, warm yourself in the Bavarian bar.

Warm up the fun way

On the 10th December, the Saltram Rotary club are holding their annual Santa Fun Run. This year the charities supported are The Dame Hannah Rogers Charity and Jeremiah’s Journey. The main route is 4k and there is also a mini route for children and anyone who wants to do it. If you fancy donning a Santa suit and racing hundreds of other Santa’s, take part in what will be a great event.
